Unilabs appoints Michiel Boehmer as CEO; Jos Lamers becomes Chairman
Geneva, 18 June 2021: Unilabs, the leading European diagnostic services provider, has formally appointed Michiel Boehmer, currently President and COO, as its new CEO. This long-planned move ensures stability and success for Unilabs at a critical time.
“Michiel has really done a fantastic job in his various roles since he joined our group in November 2013, and more recently as President & COO, responsible for the daily management of our group,” said Jos Lamers, Unilabs’ Executive Chairman. “Having worked closely with Michiel for many years, I am more convinced than ever he is the best person to lead Unilabs into the future.”
“Let me take this opportunity to thank Jos and the supervisory board for completing this last step in the succession process,” said Michiel Boehmer. “In practical terms, not much will change – Unilabs is a well-oiled machine, as we have proven repeatedly since we first heard the dreaded words “Covid-19”. This is down to the amazing teams across Unilabs: in the countries, in our collection centres, in the labs and radiology institutes, in the back offices, and out on the road. Thank you Team Unilabs!”
Boehmer joined Unilabs in November 2013 as Chief Operating Officer, became Group Regional Director South in January 2018, and was appointed President & COO in October 2019.
Lamers, Unilabs’ CEO until 2019, will assume the role of Chairman, supporting Michiel and the UMT on issues like the long-term strategic direction of Unilabs and M&A opportunities.
