Unilabs and RIMED join forces in medical diagnostics

The partnership creates a nationwide integrated diagnostics network across radiology, pathology, genetics and laboratory medicine

Unilabs, a leading provider of clinical diagnostic services, and RIMED, one of Switzerland’s leading diagnostic radiology companies, have announced a unique partnership designed to enable patients and referring healthcare providers across Switzerland to benefit even more from integrated medical diagnostics.

By acquiring a majority stake in RIMED, Unilabs is strengthening its presence in German-speaking Switzerland and Ticino, where RIMED holds a leading position in radiology. Patient care will be significantly simplified through integrated, end-to-end IT solutions, while the quality of interdisciplinary data exchange will be further enhanced through this forward-looking collaboration.

“We are delighted to welcome RIMED to the Unilabs family,” said Alessandre Keller, General Manager of Unilabs. “This combination will allow us to expand our reach and provide more patients with high-quality diagnostic services. RIMED’s first-class radiology services will become part of our integrated clinical diagnostic capabilities. By combining radiology centres, digital pathology, genetics and clinical laboratory services, we will be able to offer patients in Switzerland access to comprehensive 360° medical diagnostics. Integrated diagnostic care now has a clear face: Unilabs and RIMED, two reliable, innovative and cost-efficient healthcare providers.”

RIMED has an extensive network of highly qualified radiology experts across German-speaking Switzerland and Ticino. Bringing together RIMED’s 18 radiology locations in these regions with Unilabs’ five radiology centres in French-speaking Switzerland creates a powerful new nationwide network for private diagnostic radiology.

The combination of expertise, collaboration between highly qualified specialists and continuous exchange with patients, referring physicians and other healthcare providers throughout the medical diagnostic value chain creates significant potential not only for radiology, but also for pathology, genetics and biology.

With this comprehensive diagnostic offering from a single provider, both physicians and patients will benefit from faster, more targeted and more comprehensive diagnoses.

“We look forward to working with Unilabs,” said Dr Kim B. Laver, founder and owner of RIMED. “The long-standing commitment of both companies to innovation for radiologists and patients is outstanding. We are therefore looking forward to contributing our expertise, sharing best practices with our new colleagues and jointly developing new, creative and promising opportunities for the benefit of everyone.”

Radiology services are an essential part of modern medical diagnostics. Imaging techniques such as MRI and CT play a crucial role in establishing a diagnosis and determining the appropriate course of treatment. Accurate and reliable diagnoses are essential for the correct treatment of cancer and many other diseases. Patients, physicians, healthcare providers and insurers all benefit from this.

The existing management teams of RIMED and Unilabs will remain part of the new organisation, ensuring continuity.
