Prepare for your test
Some diagnostic tests require fasting, specific timing or temporary adjustments to medication. Following the preparation instructions helps your physician interpret your results correctly.
Before your visit, please check whether you need to:
Fast before your blood test;
Avoid certain medications or supplements;
Bring your medical prescription or identification;
Schedule the test at a specific time of day.

For some tests, you need to fast for 8 to 12 hours beforehand. This means you should not eat anything during this time and should drink water only, unless you have been given different instructions.
Always follow the instructions provided by your doctor or your Unilabs centre.
Our collection centres are generally accessible without an appointment.
However, an appointment is required for certain tests, for example catecholamines, metanephrines, serotonin, aldosterone, renin, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), lactose tolerance test, Synacthen test, semen analysis, cryoglobulins and cold agglutinins.
Please arrange these appointments in advance by phone or email with your preferred Unilabs centre. These tests are not performed on Fridays or on the day before public holidays.
For tests prescribed by a doctor, you will need a prescription from your doctor.
Selected health checks can also be carried out without a doctor’s prescription, either online or at a Unilabs collection centre. These services are generally self-paid.
Please bring your doctor’s prescription, if applicable, your health insurance card and a form of identification.
If you have booked an appointment for a specific test, please also bring your appointment confirmation or the relevant information.
Many routine test results are available within 24 to 48 hours. Specialised tests may take longer.
The exact turnaround time depends on the test. If you would like to know how long a specific test takes, please ask your Unilabs centre or your doctor.
When your laboratory results are available digitally, you will receive a notification by email, SMS or via the MyUnilabs app, depending on the access method set up for you.
You can confirm your identity via the secure link and view your available documents online. If you are accessing your results for the first time, you may need to create a user account.
Please note that not all results are available via MyUnilabs. Certain results are sent directly to the prescribing doctor.
