ImmunoCAP® ISAC allergy test

A comprehensive component-based allergy profile from a very small blood sample

The ImmunoCAP® ISAC allergy test is a multiplex in-vitro allergy diagnostic test that enables the creation of a comprehensive profile of specific IgE antibodies.

Identifying the true causes of an allergic reaction can be challenging, especially in complex cases. This may be the case when:

  • Symptoms and medical history do not clearly match

  • Sensitisation to several allergens is present

  • Cross-reactions are suspected

  • Previous treatment has not achieved the expected results

In such situations, the ImmunoCAP® ISAC test can help characterise the individual sensitisation pattern in greater detail.

What is the ImmunoCAP® ISAC allergy test?

Analysis of 112 allergen components from 51 different allergen sources

ImmunoCAP® ISAC is a blood test that detects specific IgE antibodies against 112 allergen components from 51 different allergen sources.

By analysing individual allergen components, a comprehensive and personalised allergy profile can be created.

Less than 30 μl of serum, plasma or capillary blood is required for the analysis.

Components from a wide range of allergen sources are analysed, including:

  • Moulds

  • Foods of animal origin

  • Foods of plant origin

  • Insect venoms

  • Mites

  • Plant pollen

  • Grasses

  • Trees

  • Animal epithelia

  • Latex

Detailed analysis of individual components can help distinguish primary sensitisation from possible cross-reactions and support diagnostic assessment.

Who is ImmunoCAP® ISAC suitable for?

Support for complex allergy-related questions

The test may be particularly useful in complex allergological situations, including:

  • Complex patient cases, for example with varied or difficult-to-classify symptoms

  • Patients with eczema, particularly when several allergens may be involved

  • Idiopathic anaphylaxis

  • Patients with multiple sensitisation

  • Investigation of possible cross-reactions and primary sensitisation

  • Allergy diagnostics related to immunotherapy

  • Investigation of food allergies

  • Respiratory allergies

How does ImmunoCAP® ISAC work?

Biochip-based semiquantitative immunoassay

ImmunoCAP® ISAC is a biochip-based semiquantitative immunoassay.

The different allergen components are applied to a biochip. Specific IgE antibodies from the patient sample can bind to the corresponding allergen components.

The bound IgE antibodies are then detected using fluorescence technology.

This makes it possible to analyse numerous specific IgE antibodies simultaneously from a very small blood sample.

Benefits of ImmunoCAP® ISAC

Comprehensive allergen profile

A single test can analyse specific IgE antibodies against a large number of different allergen components.

Small sample volume

Less than 30 μl of serum, plasma or capillary blood is required.

This can be particularly useful when only a small amount of sample material is available, for example in children.

Support for complex allergies

Component-based diagnostics can provide additional information in complex sensitisation patterns and help distinguish possible cross-reactions from primary sensitisation.

Personalised diagnostic information

The results can support allergological assessment and provide additional information for individual treatment planning.

Comprehensive report

Clear and commented presentation of the results

The results of the ImmunoCAP® ISAC test are summarised in a clear, commented report.

This report supports healthcare professionals in interpreting the different sensitisation patterns and allergen components detected.
