Panorama™ is a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT).

During pregnancy, DNA from the baby also circulates in the mother’s blood. Panorama can distinguish maternal DNA from fetal DNA and analyses the latter to assess the risk of certain chromosomal and genetic conditions in the baby.

Panorama is a screening test and does not provide a definitive diagnosis.

• Distinguishes maternal and fetal DNA: Panorama differentiates maternal DNA from fetal DNA to provide an individualised risk assessment

• Twin pregnancies: Panorama can determine zygosity and the individual fetal fraction in twins

• 22q11.2 deletion: Panorama can also screen for 22q11.2 deletion

• Different types of pregnancy: Panorama can be performed in singleton and twin pregnancies, as well as in pregnancies involving egg donation or a surrogate mother

What can Panorama analyse?

Screening for selected chromosomal and genetic conditions

Panorama provides a personalised assessment of the risk associated with certain genetic and chromosomal abnormalities.

It can assess the risk of:

• Down syndrome (trisomy 21)

• Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18)

• Patau syndrome (trisomy 13)

• Triploidy

As an option, screening may be extended to other syndromes, including certain microdeletion syndromes.

Sex chromosome analysis can also assess the risk of certain conditions such as Turner syndrome.

If you wish, Panorama can also determine your baby’s sex, including in twin pregnancies.

Important

Panorama is a screening test, not a diagnostic test

Panorama cannot provide a definitive diagnosis.

A result indicating a high risk means that the probability of the genetic or chromosomal condition being screened for is increased.

In this case, you should discuss the result with your doctor to determine whether additional diagnostic tests are appropriate.

When can Panorama be performed?

From the 9th week of pregnancy

Panorama can be performed from the 9th week of pregnancy.

However, it is often recommended after first-trimester screening.

Clear risk assessment for the conditions tested

Panorama provides a personalised report indicating whether the result for the conditions analysed corresponds to a low or high risk.

Your doctor can help you interpret the results and determine whether further examinations are necessary.

Cost coverage

Reimbursement depends on the clinical situation

Panorama may be reimbursed by compulsory health insurance (AOS) when first-trimester screening identifies a level of risk that meets the applicable reimbursement criteria.

If these conditions are not met, or if you wish to perform the test earlier, the costs may remain your responsibility.

Once the test has been decided, a blood sample is taken.

Results are generally available within 5 to 7 working days.
